Disney To Build Park In Utah
Disney has just announced it will be building it's newest theme park in Utah. No location has been announced but speculation is that it will be located near Provo or Salt Lake City. While no location has been announced some concept art has been leaked which you can find below.
Disney picked Utah because outside of states that already have a Disney theme park Utah buys the most Disney merchandise of any state. With such a high per captita on Disney spending it is no wonder Utah will get the next theme park. Disney has had some previous problems choosing locations that were not Disney friendly like Paris and Hong Kong which did not perform as well as hoped. This time Disney is going to focus on the die hard fans.
There is some speculation that the park will be built in Utah because of it's large LDS population. Disney has refused to acknowledge this but some of the concept art has leaked which indicate this park will feature a Biblical theme. Disney also has acknowledge that like other projects demographics have played a role in choosing Utah with an emphasis on the large youth population over anything else. The company has admitted that there may be some portion of the park with Biblical elements but would not go into any detail.
There is some speculation the park will either be fully biblical or just have a single land. With so much concept art coming out of Imagineering many speculate a whole park. It is possible that most of the park will reuse already existing attractions so there is little in the way of new concept art. Since it is West of the Mississippi it may even include Marvel IP's.
The park will be marketed and run like Disneyland. It will be focused on the local market expecting large annual pass memberships and high local numbers. On the East coast the situation is different. The company has acknowledged that they hope this park will help fans that are far from a park reach one easier. With most of the US population located East of the Mississippi and able to get to Florida easier it looks like the park will try to get more midwest and western residents to visit.
Based on the Biblical concept art it looks like we may see Noah's ark entrance or possibly walk-through attraction, a walk-through may include a Nativity scene, baby Moses bumper boats, Noah's ark merry go round, hedge maze, mystical animals, heaven dark ride, Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Jonah's Whale Chute the Shoots, boat rides, pyramid ride, chariot race, Solomon's Mine ride, light show, and more. It appears mystical creatures will be included.

While this was a parody piece (sorry to disappoint but most articles are here that is the laughs part of our title) you can learn about real Disney projects that were planned and never built from rides to whole theme parks in the book Disney Unbuilt. Or learn about lost Disney rides and parks in Extinct Attractions. You can find them at the affiliate links here or below.
