Saved By Angels

The following story is a true story passed down by my family. It is about my own family.

The story takes place a long time ago in Sweden. My ancestors wanted to go to Utah to join the "More Mons." They had to leave their small village to get to the large port city of Gothenburg where they would take a ship to the US.

The only way out of town was by crossing a bridge on their way to town. They knew the villagers were unhappy with them and did not want them to join the "More Mons." They feared they may try to seriously hurt or even kill them. But there was no other choice. So they took their family including children and left to join the church in Utah.

As they got to the bridge they could see the townsfolk had gathered on the other side in the main part of town. It was as they had feared. The town was waiting for them. They could not wait if they were to make their boat. Not knowing what fate awaited them they went on. As they crossed the bridge and made it into town the villagers let them pass unharmed.

It was the next day while reading a local paper in a nearby village on their way to Gothenburg they learned why the town had let them leave unscathed. The villagers reported in the paper that they had planned to kill the "More Mons" as they left town. They couldn't though because of the large number of people surrounding them.

I'm sure there will be those who do not believe the story at all. Even some members may be skeptical. I have no reason to doubt my family but I have wondered if it made sense. We do have Biblical accounts of some being able to angels while others can't. The story of Balam even includes a donkey that can see angels when Balam cann't.

I think that sometimes things have to be seen with spiritual eyes and even if you were present if you were not prepared you would not be able to see them. Or in the case of my family if you did not need to see them you would not. If we could see the first vision happen live I am not so sure we would be able to see anything.

Being Swedish our family likes to think of these guardian angels as Valkyrie instead of guardian angles because beautiful warrior women are so much cooler. I also have thought it would be cool if we could find the newspaper they found that told about the towns plan to kill them and not being able to. Unfortunately we don't know the time or paper it was in. We could narrow our search a bit but since any records would be in Swedish and in Sweden it is unlikely we will find them.
